Agra Fort popularly known as The Lal Qila of Agra is one of the best forts in India and is a popular tourist destination in Agra next to Taj Mahal. This fort had been built by Akbar and remained the residence and court of Mughal Emperors till the capital of the Mughal Empire shifted to Delhi. The fort is entirely made of red sandstone and is located on the bank of River Yamuna 2.5 km from Taj Mahal. Architecture of the fort is typical Mughal architectural masterpiece and one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. Agra fort is second identity of Agra city and is so massive that it is often referred to as a walled city. Within the premises of Agra Fort lie the most exquisite structures like the Perl Mosque, Nagina Masjid, Musamman Burj, Diwan E Khas, Diwan E Aam, Moti Masjid, Khas Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, and Jahangir Mahal. Tourists and visitors have lots of beautiful architectural sites to visit inside the fort. Most of the visitors like to view Yamuna River and Taj Mahal from the pavilions of the fort.
Timings: Early morning after sunrise to early evening before sunset.
Entry Fee: Rs 40 for Indian citizen and Rs 550 for foreigners, Free Entry for children below 15 years.
Entry for tourists and visitors to Agra Fort is allowed only through Amar Singh Gate. All the visitors require their ID proof with them.
