    Jain Shrines

Ayodhya is not just the birth place of Lord Ram, not just the holy place for Hindus, but also a place of high importance for Jains. Five Jain Tirthankaras are believed to be born here in Ayodhya. Thousands of Jain pilgrims visit Ayodhya every year to pay obeisance to these Tirthankaras and take part in the festive occasions celebrated in Jain Shrines. There are many Jain temples spread all over the city as Adinath Temple near Swargdwar, Anantnath Temple at Gola Ghat, Sumantnath Temple at Ramkot, Ajitnath Temple near Saptasagar, and Abhinanadannath Temple in Sarai locality. A huge Jain Temple, dedicated to very first Jain Tirthankara Rishabhdev Ji, is situated in Raiganj area considered to be the birth place of Rishabhdev Ji.
