Geography:
Agra is a beautiful city in the state of Uttar Pradesh and lies in Gangetic plain on the bank of River Yamuna. The land around the city is fertile and irrigated by Agra canal joining the rivers Yamuna and Chambal. Wheat, paddy, barley, millet and cotton are grown here in countryside. The deserted town Fatehpur Sikri is about 40 km in south west to Agra near the hills of Vindhyachal range. Agra is about 210 km away from national capital Delhi and about 340 km away from state capital Lucknow. Yamuna Expressway connects Agra to Delhi and Lucknow-Agra Expressway connects the city to the state capital. Agra lies at 27 degree north latitude and 78 degree east longitude that means in the subtropical zone from climate point of view. The city features warm winters, hot and dry summers and substantial monsoons.
