Geography:

Jaisalmer town is the district head quarter/ administrative center of Jaisalmer district, located between 26 to 28 degrees north latitude and 69 to 72 degrees east longitude. It is bounded by Jodhpur in east, Barmer in south and Bikaner in north east. Western part of the district Jaisalmer is the international boundary between India and Pakistan. Jaisalmer being an arid desert region is prone to extremes in terms of temperature. The temperature varies greatly from day to night, 25 to 49 degrees in summer and minus 5 to 25 degrees in winter. Average rain fall is recorded approximately 210 mm. The population of the town is less than one Lakh having 90% Hindu, 8.5% Muslim and rest 1.5% includes Sikh, Jain and Christian. Tourism is major industry in Jaisalmer, leather industry and oil industries are other contributors of economy of Jaisalmer.
