Chhoti Devkali Temple

Dedicated to Goddess Parvati i.e. ‘Girija’, Chhoti Devkali temple is located near Naya Ghat. According to popular folk, Devi Sita had brought an idol of Girija i.e. Goddess Parvati from her mother’s house Janakpuri at the time of her marriage with Lord Ram. Sita had been worshipping Goddess Girija since her childhood and she believed that she got married with her choice Lord Ram only due to the blessings of Goddess Girija. She carried the idol to Ayodhya after her wedding. King Dasharath got a beautiful temple constructed and the idol was established in the sanctum sanctorum. Mother Sita used to worship here every day. It is said that girls can get the groom of her choice if they offer some special worship here in the temple of Devkali.
