Desert National Park is one of the largest National Parks in India encompassing an area about 3162 square kilometers extending from Jaisalmer/Barmer all the way to the Indo-Pak border. Desert and Bengal foxes are common features in the park and can be seen near the kair trees while relishing on berries. Apart from that black buck antelope, chinkara (mountain gazelle), Indian fox , wolves, desert cats etc are found here. The birds truly are the star species of the park that houses over 120 species of resident as well as migratory birds within its parameters. The endangered species of Great India Bustard can be easily spotted here in big numbers. Other birds can be seen here are Partridges, Falcons, Eagles, Vultures, Bee-eaters, Shrikes, Larks, Demoiselle Crane, Macqueen’s Bustards, Sand grouse, Long-Legged and Honey Buzzards etc.
