Indian mythology gas a story about King Harishchandra in which he donated everything to a sage and had to serve the master of the cremation place of Kashi which was a Chandaal. Harishchandra served on this very cremation ground so in respect of the great follower of truth the Ghat was named as Harishchandra Ghat.
