Lalita Ghat is one of the important ghats in Varanasi. It became rather more important after the construction of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. Lalita Ghat is named after goddess Lalita, the Tripursundari, the Rajrajeshwari, the Shodashi, the Kamakshi, and built early in nineteenth century by the king of Nepal Rana Bahadur Shah. Lalita Ghat is famous for two beautiful temples Nepali Mandir and Lalita Gauri Mandir. Nepali Mandir is also known as Kanthwala Mandir, it is one of the most beautiful temples in Varanasi. The temple is a replica of Pashupatinath Temple of Nepal, made of terracotta, stone and wood. Lalita Ghat is famous for a two storey Lalita Palace in which some shrines of eighteenth century and some sculptures are from twelfth century. There are shrines of Kashi Devi, goddess Ganga and goddess Bhagirathi in Lalita Ghat. There is a statue of goddess Ganga in the Lalita Palace depicted riding a crocodile. An intriguing fact is that the idol of goddess Ganga is immerged in flood water every year.
