Eastern Group of Temples

Khajuraho is known for temples with specialized architecture and adorned with erotic sculptures. It is probably one of its kind in India and perhaps in the world where open expressions of various forms of life including love and sex are given exposure on the walls and pillars of temples. The entire monuments in the area lie have been divided into Eastern, Western and Southern parts of the complex. With difference in architecture and construction style the temples of these three complexes differ from each other. The Eastern group of temples is located around the lake Khajur Sagar and the old village Khajuraho. Jain temples dominate in the cluster of temples in this group. There are beautiful sculptures of women writing letters, a young girl removing a thorn from her foot, musicians playing musical instruments, dancers dancing in their flow, artists making their art and peacocks staring at clouds, etc.  Some famous temples in Eastern Complex are:
